I like the spread out tail feathers. If it would have turned its head to the side then the eye contact would have been better. A narrow aperture of f8 or above would have given your higher depth of field. Since the shutter speed was 1/400, changing the aperture to f8 from f5.6 would have reduced the aperture by a stop ie. to 1/200.
If this scene was played out infront of you in an open area, then it would have been good. That would have ensured a well diffused background.

Beautiful photograph. Liked the colour and details on the feathers. The vertical composition also works nicely. The part under the neck has lost some details. A cleaner foreground would have enhanced the image further.

A head turn like a model turns, in her return walk. Showing fine design of its attire sewed and created by Nature itself.
