Lovely bird. I wish a slight head turn towards you. That would have enhanced the eye contact.
A negative exposure compensation will alway increase the shutter speed if you are in aperture priority mode. There is a reciprocal relationship between shutter and aperture. If you are in aperture priority, and select negative exposure compensation, then the shutter speed will increase by the same amount. That means, you are telling the camera to record less light than is determined by the cameras meter. So shutter speed will be faster.

Nice colours and perch. Agree about the head turn. Wish the vertical branch just behind its beak was not present. Overall a nice image.

A negative exposure compensation will help only in Aperture prio mode and will fail in a manual mode. The clours in the iamge are nice. Wish you had got a headturn in your direction. Thanks for sharing.
