    Default Beddome's Cat Snake

One of the cutest snakes I have seen. They are slim and slender and exhibit this typical Cat snake behavior (coiling).

Clicked in Amboli. I have used a wide aperture (in macro terms) to focus on the head and avoid the tree trunk behind.

    EOS 7D with 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro @ f/8, 1/250, ISO 1600, EX 580 flash at 11:38 pm in the night. C&C most welcome!

Nice image. I think slightly less space at the top would have been good to avoid the completely out of focus area as well as the highlight due to the reflection. Some details about the snake would have been nice. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Sabyasachi! I agree with your comments. I have few more depicting the snake closely - will upload them in coming days. Will also reprocess this one and post it for suggestions.

The vertical composition looks nice. The black background enhances the subject nicely. Was it hanging on a tree? How did you see this at night? Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Mrudul:

Yer, it was on tree trunk. In and post monsoon, snakes can be spotted in Amboli easily, especially the Pit Vipers. I had an advantage as I had snake experts (one actually doing PhD on snake venom) with me with amazing spotting skills.

Nicely done. I would keep the image as it is as the pattern on the snake's curve is interesting. This is a very beautiful snake. Thanks for sharing.
