    Default Grasshopper Portrait

Canon EOS 500D + Canon 100mm Macro USM
    Aperture-Priority AE
    Tv 1/800
    Av 7.1
    ISO 800
    Flash Off
    White Balance Daylight (Preset)
    Handheld
    Full frame image
    Processed in LR 3

The grasshopper was feeding on the blade of grass (foreground) when I clicked. Thinking whether I should have used a one stop higher Av to get more of it in focus. Do you think it is an addition, or is it distracting? I have a few other compositions, will post them later.

Thanks, comments and critiques eagerly awaited.

    Abhishek,
I think I would have tried for a higher depth of field, may be by atleast one stop. That would have still given you a nicely diffused background due to the distance between the grasshopper and the background.

    Cheers,

Thanks Sabyasachi, I agree about the DoF. I was scared to sacrifice shutter speed as I was shooting hand held from a very uncomfortable position. But I guess 1/400 would easily have sufficed.

Lovely details. The different shades of green look nice. I was thinking avoiding the black out of focus area on the top would be good, but moving the camera downwards would also have resulted in some black areas below the leaf, so the present composition looks fine. Look forward to the other compositions. Thanks for sharing.
