    Default Level-4 Security

It is intresting how strategically a herd places itself around a calf and young ones especially when there is a threat around.I think many people have a lesson to learn while escorting children on roads. In this case the threat was from the usual craziness on the highway.

Nice one Roopakji.Looks like "Thrissur Pooram" wild elephant style.I dont know whether I got the same elephant herd during last week of Dec 2011.But we saw them at Mule Hole about 3-4kms before Muthanga while coming from Gundlupet.....

Nice image Roopak, the calf is well protected. The details in the image have come out well.

Nice behavior photographed. I liked the composition with the elephants lined up and the calf visible in the centre. Its good that you got eye contact of all the elephants. Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with the composition. It is good that you could sight the elephants and the calf clearly. Whenever there is a perceived threat, the elephants act as "view cutters". The same style is employed by the SPG (Special Protection Group) that is entrusted with the security of our Prime Minister. Tall officers all around to physically act as view cutters and also they erect barriers to act as view cutters.

    Very nice picture Roopak.

Composition wise, I'd have liked if this image was the left half of the frame and the right half included the forest - Some direction into where the elephants are so keenly looking at. A horizontal frame might have given you that option. But that's a matter of personal taste I guess

    Thanks All for the comments.

Anton -I did make a horizontal but the tree at the right (half cut) stands in the middle of the frame and a lot of lantana beyond it was not to my liking

    Roopak
