I don't think it will be a big problem for the calf to survive. Unless and until you see the eyes, one can't know for sure if it is an albino or not. If "white" elephants - can survive in Asia - at times closer to the equator - they can do so in Africa as well.

Lets see if the BBC unit can track this later as well.
