Sad to hear that an elephant calf rescued is not accepted by the herd. Though this report - which would be based on the version given by the forest department - says that the forest department dug the pit to get out the calf, we don't know how much of physical handling took place. The best idea is to make the workers smear their body with elephant dung and do the digging.
