    Default A helping hand..!!

    Dear All,

Image from the Kaziranga national park, Forest guard helping an Indian One horned Rhinoceros to extract itself from a mire.
The Rhino was grazing adjacent to the main road while we were entering the central zone. While returning, we found that the Rhino was trapped in the mud. It must have struggled to extract itself however when we reached the spot, it had all but given up the struggle to extract itself. The team of forest guards then set about removing the mud in a bid to extract the Rhino. It however seemed to be getting deeper and deeper into trouble. We departed fearing for the Rhino's safety.

The next day though, we found him merrily grazing not 50 yards from the spot, giving a couple of mynas the benefit of a free ride without any apparent worry at all...!!

    Look forward to comments.
    Cheers

Nice documentation. Interesting to see that these animals who are so used to moving in the bog, still get into trouble. Thanks for sharing.

    Default Rhino

Perhaps the Rhino was attempting for wallowing and per chance got struck in the mud. I have seen Rhinos regularly wallowing in Kaziranga's mud spots. Nice and timely shot that. TFS

Agree with Mrudul, I had the same feeling when I saw this image. Good to know the Rhino was rescued. Nice documentation.
