    Default Yana Caves

Made a quick trip to Yana Caves near Gokarna, Karnataka a couple of days back.
The area has two gigantic limestone monoliths. This image was clicked inside one of the caves in the larger monolith, called "Bhairaveshwar shikhara". The region also has excellent forests. I have heard that the rock formations here are proposed mines for iron ore and limestone; but there have simultaneously been appeals to award better protection to the area as a biodiversity reserve and a historical and geological heritage site.
Will be sharing a few more images from this place soon.

    Canon EOS 500D, 18-55 mm IS @ 18mm
    Manual exposure
    SS 1/4
    Av f8
    ISO 200
    Full frame image
    Mounted on a borrowed GorillaPod.

Thanks, C&C welcome. Can any of you suggest an imaginative title for this image?

Beautiful. I love the composition. A bit of fill flash (at a negative EC setting) or using a flashlight to slightly brighten up the area on the right might have been something worth experimenting. The dark area doesn't distract as such. Nicely done. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the title and the lighting suggestions Bibhav. Will give them a try, I'm definitely going to visit Yana again sometime soon.

This seems to be a nice place. Good that you created a composition with a ray of light. Did you place the pod on the ground or on a wall crevice?

Sabyasachi, it was placed on flat ground for this shot. It also provided a stable support for the camera + kit lens when placed on rocks.

Lovely image Abhishek. The ray of light looks nice and adds to the composition. The dark area actually looks good. It gives a sense of depth of the area and how much of light can actually reach the different areas within the cave. Thanks for sharing.
