    Default Coppersmith Barbets

In Bharatpur in late December last year. We were walking along the main road and saw this pair well before the barrier gate on the right. They were a treat to observe - the female busy pecking away for grubs and the male regally surveying his domain!

    Shot with the Nikon D90, Nikkor 300mm f4 +TC 14E, at 420mm, ISO 200, 1/250s - F/11, +0.7EV

Nice compo. Is this a crop for there seems some loss in details. A slight shake is also visible. Maybe a higher ISO may churn up a faster SS for more details.

The beautiful colors and eye contact is a big plus for this image

    Thanks for sharing

Nice details on the male. Agree with Rajan's comments. How were the sightings in Bharatpur, good numbers of birds this time? Thanks for sharing.

Agree with Rajan. I plan to drive down to Bharatpur next week. Hope to get some good sightings.

Thanks all. Yes, there's a slight shake, still getting used to hand holding the 300 mm F4 + TC 14E . Yes it's a 30% crop to bring out the frame that brings out the beauty of these birds against the lattice work bg. I was trying to get both in focus but I guess aperture needed to be way higher for it at such close quarters
