The background is nicely diffused and helps in the subject standing out clearly.

When you are closer to the subject, depth of field becomes less. So a f8 here will give you less depth of field than when you were clicking the birds in hessarghatta.

Including the full leg or completely avoiding it would have been better. If you would have included the full leg, then the depth of field at f8 would not have been sufficient as there is a considerable distance between the leg and the body. So Abhishek's idea of moving the camera to the top and right would have been better as you would have avoided the lower body which is angled into the frame and the head portion was parallel to your camera.

In one of your earlier coments , u explained me on plane of focus... i always try to get the subject parallel to the sensor. But i miss many a times.

Here you informed me that F 8.0 would give less depth of field if the subject is very close. please let me know, if the subject is closer and lighting conditions are ok for smaller aperture, then is it wise to use higher F number(.F8.0)..... . I use F8.0 as default because very body say that the image wil be sharper with f 8.0. Please help me .. when we can use higher f numbers and have a better image?
