Terrapins are the turtles which are semiaquatic and live in freshwater (mostly). They love to bask and can often be seen huddled up in numbers upto 15-20 on rocks and dead tree near water bodies. I was unaware that they migrate waterbodies as well. On my recent trip to BR hills, I noticed Indian terrapins on two occasions crossing a road with no water bodies in the near vicinity. It could be in search of greener pastures, or did I find a couple of vagabonds?
