Nice to see it with a worm. Wish it was turned towards you. These birds are very active and keep moving, so waiting for the right moment for it to to turn towards you would have enhanced the eye contact. If possible you could have tried lying flat on the ground, that would have helped to get a lower angle. Thanks for sharing.

When you lower yourself the angle with the subject reduces. When you lie flat on your belly, and the camera is at the same level as the bird, the background is far away and hence gets completely out of focus. In your image, the background is the grass in the immediate vicinity of the bird and is in focus.
Lower angle also helps in improving the image because you are at the eye level of the subject and hence get the same perspective.
You haven't got details in the neck area, because there is side lighting and the neck area is in shadow.
