The light was low and shutter speed was less. And since you were shooting at 300mm, it would be better to use some kind of support like placing the lens on a beanbag in the vehicle. If bean bag is not available then folding a jacket and placing it on the gypsy and then placing the lens on top of it would help in stabilising it. A monopod will also help.
