    Default Elephant charge

This was at Kabini when this elephant charged at our vehicle. This was the last shot i could manage in the charge sequence for after this one, the animal was too close for the 400 DO IS prime lens to focus and we had to switch to the 100 -400.

    5d MIII, 400 DO IS, F4.5, 1/1000, Hand held, ISO 800.

    regards
    Rajan

Wow this is close. Good composition. The raised trunk and the flying mud particles adds to the composition. Is the AF point on the mouth area? Thanks for sharing.

The open mouth makes it interesting. The trunk is so long it becomes difficult to get the entire trunk and body covered by depth of field.

For these situations the 100-400 is a better lens. However for elephants, even the 100mm can be tight. The flying dirt adds to the composition. A wider composition would have been even better. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
