He is right. What is compensatory afforestation.

In fact afforestation is as dangerous as deforestation is. In the name of
afforestation, we have lost sprawling shola grass lands to monoculture wattle plantations. Acres of dry thorn forests have been replaced by Eucalyptus forests...

Corporates indulge in afforestation - mostly exotic species which in no way can compensate the natural forests which are in existence for millions of years supporting millions of lives.

Think India is choosing a path of no return and miniscule conservation efforts stand no chance before burgeoning mass of greed and apathy....
