The composition is fine. A vertical would also have worked. The eye contact is good. I wish the light was directly falling on it ie. frontal lighting. That would have been better in getting details in the eye. Thanks for sharing.

I agree that a frontal lighting would have been good here. Its is sharp, but I do see some sharpening artefacts on the beak and the breast plumage. The composition is fine. how big a crop is this?
Nice details. This makes a good portrait. Wondering whether you need to reduce the highlights on the breast. TFS.
