    The head turn and the eye contact is nice. The vertical composition looks good. Thanks for sharing.

    I like the eye contact and head turn. Some more space at bottom and right would be good. Since you are clicking with 300mm, I would suggest that you try to go as close as possible and then try to create an environmental portrait. Creating a pleasing environmental portrait displaying the relationship of the bird/animal is a challenge. However, most of the time people start their photography by trying to click closeups and lateron after they acquire long lenses realise the importance of environmental portraits and start using lower focal lengths. Better to start with the environmental portraits now.

    Cropping and sharpening shows up artifacts. Better to have the bird small in the frame (say 1//3rd or 2/3rd) and show the habitat.

    At times these birds land up very close to you. In those situations you can get closeups.
