    Default Grey-breasted (& Orange-headed!) Prinia

One of the beautiful and fairly common resident birds of our region. They are mainly insectivorous but also enjoy nectar when favorite flowers are in bloom. The plant it is feeding on here is Woodfordia fruticosa. The flower of this plant contains tannin that gets stuck to the birds head. Interestingly same tannin is also used to dye silk clothes.

Clicked in Pune (Sinhgad Valley) during summer which is also blooming time for these flowers. EOS 7D with 400mm f/5.6L @ f/5.6, 1/1000, ISO 500. C&C most welcome!

    Tushar

Beautiful composition and details. Nice clean background. The flowers add to the image. Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing the information. Look forward to more.

Wow! Beautiful image and lovely colors. The bg is nice and clean. Agree that narrow aperture would have been even better. But as it is the image has good details. Great work Tushar!

Sweet bird. Thanks for the information Tushar! It is not easy to click these fellows, as the thin branches sway up and down.

    Cheers,
