    Default Short Eared Owl

Short eared Owl, LRK, Feb 2011.

Found him sheltered under an acacia in the early afternoon, one of three individuals sighted in a small area.

I love the eyes and the pose. The low angle is nice. How close could you approach? Did it not fly away? Some sharpening would be good. Do you have a vertical? I hope to click this species sometime. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

Nice sighting. I liked the eye contact. Increasing the ISO and using a narrower aperture would have been good. Agree about the sharpness. Look forward to more from LRK. Thanks for sharing.

Sabyasachi: No vertical compo, i'm afraid. we were in a vehicle and could approach close, about 15 feet.
The Rann can be explored only in a vehicle, its too large and disorienting due to a flat featureless, treeless landscape.
