Dear Mrudul,
Actually this is not a captive bird as it is not a part of the aviary in the Delhi Zoo. The pelicans arrive annually in the winters in the large waterbodies in the Delhi Zoo complex.

Actually I could be wrong, Just read that the pelicans in question could be pinioned specimens for Exhibit. Plus there is evidence that the pelicans in question could be fed with dead fish by the zoo authorities.
I guess that no longer makes them wild.

I also thought this is not captive, as there were around 20-30 of such birds. I will refrain myself visiting this place. I gave my car for service and picked my camera to practice manual mode, found this place nearby where I can go without a car.
I will take care not to post zoo pictures.
