    Default White Rumped Munia

    Lonchura striata striata

It was feeding and I could clearly see the crushed grain around its beak. The conical and stubby beak structure of Finches, Munias and Silverbills seem to be adapted for this.

Nice pose, well captured. Would have preferred some more space at the bottom. TFS

In birds the beak structure, legs and digits are according to the food and habitat. When one starts analysing these, bird watching becomes even more interesting. Of course the other major area is listening to bird calls. Some birds are really melodious. Who do you think would be the Lata Mangeskar among birds?

    Cheers,

Interesting. AS Sabyasachi says, hearing birds calling can be a great stress buster.

The eye contact is nice. The use of its stubby beak is well documented here. I think Lata Mangeshkar is called 'Nightingale' . Thanks for sharing.
