I agree that a majority of the photographers would have left less space at the left and more at the right. However, I do differently.

Have you noticed how the bird positions its head when it is looking at you? It won't point its beak towards you, if it wants to look at you. Their eyes are not forward facing - they are on the side of their head. So I don't blindly try to adhere to the rule by leaving more space at the right.

In this composition, the eye which is locked on to the photographer, is positioned in the rule of thirds position in this image.
