An interesting image. I would have preferred to go in for a central composition here. The two birds are looking in opposite directions and the offcentred composition doesnt do justice to both. The one on the left, has an open beak which adds to the image, but the interest goes to the one on the right primarily due to the space in the direction in which it is looking... The crop preference in the vertical side is fine with me... A slight opening of shadows would also be good...

In this image, there the details are not much visible, perhaps it being far away and also being a crop. This image would look better in a bigger size. Have you taken a vertical composition?

The birds were at some distance for sure, so the details are that crisp for sure. I did not take this photograph on the vertical frame for this which would have possibly given a different perspective.
Nice image. Agree with the comments above. Do post other images from the trip.
