Got this guy from the same trip where I got the egret shot that I posted last week. Tried this horizontal compo keeping more space in the direction where the bird is looking towards.

The pose and head turn look nice. Having the bird a little larger in the frame would be better. However, cropping won't be a good solution. For this particular image, I would suggest cropping a bit of the bottom, to give it a wider perspective and place the bird lower down.

Seems the bird was a bit far. You could have tried to use a narrower aperture like f6.3 or f7.1 as you had high shutter speed. That would given more details. Do try to stalk (crawl or wait patiently) to go as near as possible, so you can get the bird larger in the frame. Which lens are you using? Do post the equipment details. Thanks for sharing.

I agree that if you could get this one close to you, then it would be good. I like the shape of the rocks. If you can somehow sit still or in hide, clicking this one up close would look great.

Ty for all the comments on improvements required. Well I was crouching and tried to reach as close as 12-15 feet of the bird. I was hiding behind a big rock while clicking the shots. But im sure I couldnt go as close i would have wanted to though.

@Mrudul - Currently Im using a borrowed Canon 70-300 on a 7D body and am planning to go for a 100-400 next month (hopefully )

Nice shot Supreet, I like the pose, gives a feeling that it is just about to fly seeing something. You may need to work on the crop, currently it looks like square, a pano crop may also look good in this case. in most cases a rectangle is preferred

Agree with Praveen..also, with the kind of short lenses we work with, we need to do significant amounts of cropping- which means the image loses its original sharpness and the sharpen tool has to be used in most cases! Seems you don't use the tool much though..
