Nice composition. Good light and nice eye contact. Please check the AF point, is it locked on the leaves in the foreground? I think a lower shutter speed would have sufficed here. Thanks for sharing.

I think the bird might have made some movement while you clicked. It is important to anticipate the subject movement and when the bird is momentarily still, one can click and get a sharp image at much lower shutter speeds. In this case a bit more depth of field would be good as the leaves enhance the composition.
