Nice perch and good eye contact. Agree about the highlights on the branch on the right. You could have avoided the branch and kept more space on the left, in the direction the bird is looking. Thanks for sharing.

I think to start with you are doing fine. The eye contact is fine and you got the bird in a nice pose. I guess the bird was far off for the focal length used. Try waiting for these birds near flowering plants. You may get the chance to shoot close to full frame images at 200mm. I am sure you will soon get a hang on the exposure. Thanks for sharing.
